Environmental Certifications

Owens Corning uses third-party organizations to test and certify product attributes such as minimum recycled content, low emissions, safety and sustainable building.

The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute certifies low-emitting building materials that meet strict indoor air quality standards. Owens Corning products earning GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality and the more stringent GREENGUARD Children & Schools^SM certifications include the following:

Insulation – EcoTouch™ insulation, Unbonded loosefill insulation, Foamular® extruded polystyrene insulation, fiberglass duct systems and other insulation products

EcoTouch™ insulation and Unbonded Loosefill insulation are also verified to be formaldehyde-free by GREENGUARD Environmental Institute.

Non-Woven Glass Fiber Mat – Owens Corning glass fiber mat or veils for carpet tile, ceiling panels and cushion-vinyl flooring are the first in the glass non-woven industry to earn these two rigorous indoor air quality certifications from the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute.

Also, we have three products that resist the growth of mold and are listed as Microbial Resistant on the GREENGUARD Website:

Scientific Certification Systems verifies recycled glass content in our insulation products. Our new EcoTouch™ insulation product line is certified to have 50 percent recycled glass, with at least 30 percent post-consumer recycled and the balance pre-consumer recycled glass content. Two of our products received MBDC's silver Cradle-to-Cradle Certification, which assesses products in areas such as safe materials, design for reuse, energy efficiency, efficient water consumption and use of socially responsible strategies.
