Our Environmental Footprint
Owens Corning is committed to continuous reduction of resource use and environmental emissions from its operations. We focus on seven key areas:
The chart below indicates that Owens Corning has exceeded its intensity goals for NOx, Particulate Matter (PM) and Water. Owens Corning is on track to meet most of the others by 2012.

Owens Corning set the following goals for 2012 from a base year of 2002.

Energy — Electric power, natural gas and fuel oil
GHG — Greenhouse gases, defined as gases that contribute toward the Greenhouse effect, including carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and HCFCs
NOx — Nitrogen oxides
VOC — Volatile organic compounds, primarily hydrocarbons
PM — Particulate matter, defined and reported according to regional government requirements
Water — Water that enters the plant, sources include local utilities and wells
TPY — Metric tons per year
m3 — Cubic meters
MwH — Megawatt hours
