Owens Corning EcoTouch™ Insulation becomes first fiberglass insulation to receive USDA BioPreferred designation. Insulation also receives new SCS recycled content certifications.
Owens Corning announced that its award-winning EcoTouch™ Insulation is the first fiberglass insulation to be certified by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) as a biobased product. The certification is part of a new USDA Biobased labeling initiative to identify products with ingredients made from renewable plant materials.
In addition to the USDA certification, EcoTouch™ Insulation was recently certified by Scientific Certifications Systems (SCS) for new recycled content figures: total recycled content rose from 50 percent to 58 percent for faced batts and rolls, and to 65 percent for unfaced batts, rolls, MBI and loosefill.

Owens Corning through its Roofing business announced a strategic alliance with Earth911, Inc., host of the largest and most accurate recycling directory in North America, to expand shingle recycling opportunities for contractors and consumers. The alliance supports Owens Corning's commitment to sustainable roofing practices and broadens the scope of the company's industry-leading shingle recycling program by providing access to contractors who utilize local shingle recyclers found on Earth911.com.

Owens Corning again named to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index
For the second year in a row, Owens Corning has earned placement in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) in recognition of its sustainability initiatives. Composed of global sustainability leaders, the DJSI World Index is an elite listing of the top 10 percent of the world's 2,500 largest companies based on long-term economic, environmental and social criteria.

David Weekley Homes honors Owens Corning for the second consecutive year as a coveted "Partner of Choice."
Owens Corning has been honored by achieving an "A" rating for quality, and receiving the well-respected "Partners of Choice" Award from David Weekley Homes, the second largest for-profit, privately-held U.S. home builder. Of approximately 150 companies surveyed, only 10 were recognized by receiving an "A" award for either quality or service. This is the second consecutive year that Owens Corning has received this honor.

The Springfield, Tenn., U.S., plant became Owens Corning's eigth plant to achieve Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star status. The original equipment manufacturers (OEM) plant earned the distinction from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). VPP Star is OSHA's highest honor for exemplary safety and health programs that go beyond minimum standards.

The award is part of the IACC's seventh Indo-American Corporate Excellence Awards.
