LEED Facilities

Two Owens Corning facilities have earned the gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) program, one of which is its global headquarters in Toledo, Ohio.
Headquarters
Our headquarters earned the prestigious gold certification in early 2011 under the LEED Existing Building program, advancing from the silver certification awarded in 2007. To achieve the award, the building's design and operation has met stringent standards as an energy-efficient, sustainable place to work.
The LEED certification of an existing building is a significant achievement because it is generally easier to design these features in new construction. The Owens Corning global headquarters building has also earned an Energy Star rating, which ranks it among the top 25 percent of energy-efficient buildings in the United States.
Gresham, Oregon Foam Insulation Plant
The company’s Gresham, Ore., U.S., foam insulation plant earned the gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council's gold certification in the LEED New Construction program. The Gresham plant was the first LEED gold-certified insulation facility in the United States and one of more than 200 industrial facilities in the country that have been awarded LEED certification.
Among its sustainability features, the building captures particulate emissions that are recycled back into the manufacturing process. All of the electricity used in the plant comes from renewable sources, and low-flow water fixtures have reduced the facility’s potable water use by 41 percent.
