Recycling

In our quest to conserve natural resources wherever possible, we look for ways to use scrap or waste from our own and other waste streams, including consumer waste. Recycled content in Owens Corning products consists of either post-consumer, such as beverage bottle collection, or pre-consumer, also known as post-industrial or factory waste.
Recycled Content
Owens Corning is one of the largest users of recycled glass in the world. We have the highest level of certified recycled content among all fiberglass insulation producers in the United States at a minimum of 50 percent. This is certified by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS). See more information about third-party certification by clicking here. Third Party Certifications
Our Foamular® XPS products use a minimum of 20 percent recycled content. This comes from other types of waste foams and we also utilize all scrap from the XPS production process such as edge trim or starter boards. Foamular insulation is also certified through Scientific Certification Systems. There is no foam waste taken to a landfill from our manufacturing sites.
This recognition by SCS and ULE assures building professionals using Owens Corning fiberglass insulation, Foamular® insulation and masonry products of the recycled content in order to help achieve LEED® certification and meet other green building guidelines.
Other Owens Corning products, including roofing shingles, have recycled content dependent on where they are produced. Contact 1-800-GET-PINK® for more information on recycled content in any of our products.
