Over the years, Owens Corning has proven its commitment to producing more sustainable products through ongoing innovation, efficient use of resources and robust recycling programs to reduce environmental impacts and improve energy efficiency in the built environment.
2011 Product Innovations
Owens Corning introduced new breakthrough products in 2011 that contribute to a decrease in energy use and lower emissions. Specifically, our EcoTouch™ insulation uses natural materials in combination with a complete manufacturing process redesign to deliver insulation that is verified formaldehyde free, without compromising thermal or acoustical performance . Owens Corning is leading the way in meeting the need for increased energy efficiency by delivering multiple product solutions, such as fiber glass insulation and solar-reflecting roofing shingles. More information
Owens Corning uses a minimum of 58% recycled glass content in our light density insulation products consisting of at least 36% post-consumer content, such as bottles from curbside recycling programs, and 22% post-industrial content, also known as factory waste (from other manufacturers). This is the highest certified level of recycled content in the insulation industry. Our fiberglass insulation products used in commercial applications have 55% post-industrial recycled content and our XPS foam insulation has 20% post-industrial recycled content, all third party certified. In addition, we’re the first roofing manufacturer to establish a program for recycling shingles. More information.
Many of our products are certified by third-party organizations to validate attributes such as minimum recycled content, low emissions, biobased, safety and sustainable building. More information.
