Products
Over the years, Owens Corning has proven its commitment to producing products for a more sustainable built environment through ongoing innovation, conservation of resources and robust recycling programs to reduce environmental impacts and improve energy efficiency.
2010 Product Innovations
Owens Corning introduced new breakthrough products in 2010 that contribute to a decrease in energy use and lower emissions. For example, we completely redesigned our manufacturing process to deliver EcoTouch™ insulation that is verified formaldehyde free, without compromising thermal or acoustical performance. Energy-Saving Products
Owens Corning is leading the way in meeting the need for increased energy efficiency by delivering multiple product solutions, such as fiberglass insulation, air sealing solutions and solar-reflecting roofing shingles. More information.
Recycling
Owens Corning uses a minimum of 50 percent recycled glass content in our light density insulation products. At least 30 percent is post-consumer content, such as bottles from curbside recycling programs, and 20 percent pre-consumer content, also known as post-industrial. This is the highest certified level of recycled content in the insulation industry. Our fiberglass insulation products used in commercial applications have 55 percent pre-consumer recycled content and our XPS foam insulation has 20 percent post-industrial recycled content--all third-party certified. In addition, we’re the first roofing manufacturer to establish a program for recycling shingles. More information.
Environmental Certifications
Many of our products are certified by third-party organizations to validate attributes such as minimum recycled content, low emissions and safety. More information.
Life Cycle Assessment and Product Evaluation
Life cycle assessments of our core products help improve processes and maximize positive environmental impacts. Additionally, all new products undergo a comprehensive review to ensure they meet Owens Corning’s Environmental, Health, Safety and Product Stewardship Policy. More information.
