Training and Development

At Owens Corning, we're committed to providing the support and resources for team members to achieve excellence through continuous learning.
Training and Development activities are designed to accelerate business results while helping employees facilitate individual development and career growth in both their current and future roles at Owens Corning. In 2010, nearly 5,000 salaried employees averaged 12 hours of training each, while more than 11,000 hourly team members averaged 12 hours.
Programs
The following examples provide a cross-section of training programs provided throughout the year:
Leadership Development Programs — Owens Corning offers global leadership development programs targeted toward executive leaders, emerging leaders and first-level leaders.
Global Financial Standards Curriculum — Over 200 employees participate in the Global Financial Standard Curriculum. These courses establish a standard and provide a common financial language to discuss the company's performance globally. The training series emphasize expectations about the preparation, uses and leadership accountabilities related to financial standards.
Sustainability and General Product Curriculum — Owens Corning offers a series of courses that provide a base-level understanding of our products, with a focus on sustainability. These online courses cover the full breadth of our products and the sustainable solutions we offer.
Lean Certification — Continuous improvement to meet the challenges of a highly competitive marketplace is the goal as participants learn to become effective lean practitioners during this four-week workshop.
Systems, Applications & Programs (SAP) — More than 700 employees in a procure-to-pay SAP role are required to complete multiple online training modules for annual certification, with coursework offered in multiple languages.
Business Code of Conduct — All salaried employees must complete this online training annually. Our ten guiding principles provide better clarity regarding business conduct expected of Owens Corning employees. There is a section of the training dedicated specifically to "Treating Others with Respect," linking to Owens Corning's "Equal Opportunity" and "Non-harassment" policies.
