The DJSI World Index is a highly recognized sustainability index comprised of leading sustainable companies around the world. Inclusion on this list means that the company ranks in the top 10 percent of the biggest 2,500 companies worldwide based on long-term economic, environmental, and social criteria.
Owens Corning has been named a Silver Class Sustainability Leader and a Sector Mover in The Sustainability Yearbook 2011 published by Sustainable Asset Management. Only the top-scoring 15 percent of the companies in each of the 58 sectors assessed are eligible for the yearbook.

Owens Corning was recognized for its score of 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign 2011 Corporate Equality Index (CEI) at the Seventh Annual Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Workplace Equality Awards event. The company has achieved a score of 100-percent for seven years in a row.
Owens Corning was named a Leader in the Maplecroft Climate Innovation Indexes, which identifies companies that are managing and innovating to benefit from climate-related opportunities, while mitigating their exposure to potential risks.
Owens Corning was honored as the Home Depot Supplier of the Year in building materials for our education programs at their stores and online, including the “Top it Off®” insulation website. The award is The Home Depot’s highest supplier honor.
Owens Corning received Partners of Choice Award from David Weekley Homes, the second largest for-profit, privately held U.S. homebuilder, for ensuring we efficiently deliver high quality products at competitive prices. We were also honored by achieving an "A" rating for quality. Out of approximately 150 companies surveyed, only 10 were recognized by receiving an "A" award for either quality or service.
Owens Corning Japan won an award from Sekisui Home-Techno Company for helping it lower operational costs through improved performance. Sekisui Home-Techno, located in Osaka, Japan, produces bathtubs and bath-related materials, and uses a sheet molding compound (SMC) that Owens Corning developed upon request.
The National Safety Council gave the Napa, Calif. Masonry plant a 2010 Industry Leader Award for achieving the best safety performance within its industry. It is one of 81 sites honored with the award which is based on lowest total incidence rate and employee work hours.
Owens Corning’s Kearny Asphalt facility was awarded the Governor's Continued Excellence Award by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. It is the highest award given to companies without any work-related lost time from injury or illness for five or more consecutive years.
Owens Corning’s Composite Solutions energy leader Don Scarsella won the Energy Manager of the Year award from the Association of Energy Engineers, an organization dedicated to energy conservation and management. Scarsella was recognized for focusing the entire Composite Solutions organization on increased energy efficiency. They have reduced their energy intensity by 10 percent in the last two years.
