Diversity at Owens Corning

Diversity at Owens Corning is about becoming a stronger team by leveraging the power of our individual differences. With this mindset, the company operates in 26 countries and strives to recognize, respect and appreciate the individual differences in its employees, customers, partners and suppliers. Owens Corning was a charter endorser of the Global Sullivan Principles of social responsibility and continues to support them.
Even though we made some improvement in our diversity, we recognize the need to further diversify our workforce leadership. In the U.S., 13 percent of the corporation’s officers and 11 percent of it’s managers are minorities. Globally, women make up 8 percent of the officers and 18 percent are managers.
Owens Corning again earned the top rating of 100 percent in the 2010 Corporate Equality Index, an annual survey administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation regarding our relationships with gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender employees and consumers. Owens Corning has had a 100 percent rating every year since 2004.
Nineteen students from 10 different universities participated in the fifth annual Diversity Leadership Conference in 2008, held at our world headquarters in Toledo, Ohio. The three-day conference provided a chance for the students to enhance their knowledge and understanding of leadership and corporate values through workshops and exercises. It is also a networking and recruiting opportunity for us.
