Building Science is a branch of engineering that evaluates the dynamic response of buildings subject to varying indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. It is deployed at all three levels of construction and design: the material level, the system level (envelopes and HVAC) and the whole building level. At Owens Corning, Building Science is important since it feeds our innovation pipeline with customer-inspired and building science-informed solutions. Building Science has a multidisciplinary scope and is one of the most complex and challenging disciplines that includes:

  1. Heat and Mass transfer,
  2. Energy in Buildings,
  3. Indoor Air Quality,
  4. Comfort,
  5. HVAC and Equipment,
  6. Building Acoustics,
  7. Lighting,
  8. Fire,
  9. Performance Based Design,
  10. Sustainable Construction,
  11. Energy Code Development, and Compliance Evaluations.

Owens Corning has invited a number of national and international Building Science experts to deliver their state-of-the-art lessons for better understanding the performances of insulation materials, envelope systems and whole buildings. We hope you find this training resource informative, and valuable.
